Pulmonary Function Test
Our Centre provides Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) which is a series of non-invasive tests designed to assess how well your lungs are functioning. It is commonly used to diagnose and monitor respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and pulmonary fibrosis. The assessment typically includes spirometry, lung volume measurement, and diffusion capacity testing, providing a comprehensive view of your lung health.
Our specialist would refer you to perform a Pulmonary Function Test if they believe it is essential in your diagnosis. The test duration range between 15-25 minutes, varying from one patient to anther.
You can eat and drink normally before and after the test. however, if you are on puffers, your specialist might guide you to cease them for a period of time.
Polysomnography Test
At Sydney Southwest Respiratory and Sleep Centre, we offer at-home Polysomnography testing, where our expert team sets up the equipment for you to take home, allowing you to undergo the test in the comfort of your own space.
Polysomnography is a comprehensive diagnostic tool used to assess various sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, and other abnormal sleep patterns. By recording vital data such as brain waves, oxygen levels, heart rate, and muscle activity, this test provides a detailed picture of your sleep quality and any disruptions that may occur throughout the night.
The convenience of taking the test home means you can follow your usual sleep routine while our specialists monitor the results, ensuring accurate diagnosis and tailored treatment plans.
This at-home option is a great alternative for patients who prefer not to sleep in a sleep clinic setting, offering both comfort and reliability for optimal care.
CPAP and Bilevel therapy Initiation
At Sydney Southwest Respiratory and Sleep Centre, we offer convenient and affordable CPAP hire services to support patients newly diagnosed with sleep apnea or those wishing to trial a device before purchase.
Our CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machines deliver a gentle, continuous flow of air through a mask to keep the airway open during sleep, reducing snoring and preventing pauses in breathing.
Using a CPAP device can significantly improve sleep quality, increase daytime alertness, and reduce the long-term risks associated with untreated sleep apnea—such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and fatigue. Our experienced team provides professional setup, education, and ongoing support to ensure each patient achieves optimal comfort and therapy outcomes.
Whether you’re beginning treatment or exploring your options, our CPAP hire program offers a flexible and personalized approach to better sleep health.
Nasal Endoscopy
At Sydney Southwest Respiratory and Sleep Centre, we offer nasal endoscopy as a safe, quick, and minimally invasive procedure to assess the nasal passages and upper airway.
Using a thin, flexible camera, our specialists can examine the inside of the nose, sinuses, and throat to identify conditions such as nasal obstruction, chronic sinus disease, nasal polyps, inflammation, structural abnormalities, and other causes of breathing or sleep-related symptoms.
The procedure is performed in our rooms and usually takes only a few minutes. A local anesthetic spray may be used to improve comfort. Nasal endoscopy provides valuable diagnostic information and helps guide the most appropriate treatment plan for each patient.
Skin Prick Testing
At Sydney Southwest Respiratory and Sleep Centre, we offer skin prick testing to help identify common environmental allergens that may be contributing to symptoms such as hay fever, asthma, eczema, or allergic reactions.
Skin prick testing is a safe, quick, and reliable procedure performed in the clinic. Small amounts of common allergens are applied to the skin, usually on the forearm, and the skin is gently pricked to assess for an allergic response.
Results are typically available within 15–20 minutes and help our specialists develop personalized treatment and allergy management plans.
If you are experiencing ongoing allergy symptoms, skin prick testing can provide valuable information to guide your care.
