Meet our team
At Sydney Southwest Respiratory and Sleep Centre, our dedicated team, led by Dr. Fedil Metti, offers comprehensive care for patients facing respiratory and sleep-related concerns. We specialize in a range of diagnostic services, including advanced lung function testing to assess pulmonary health, rhinometry to evaluate nasal airflow, and in-home sleep studies to understand and address sleep disorders. Additionally, our CPAP trials provide patients with personalized treatment options for conditions like sleep apnea. With Dr. Metti’s expertise and a compassionate team approach, we are committed to improving patient health through precise diagnostics and tailored care plans.
Dr Fedil Metti
Consultant Respiratory and Sleep Physician
Owner and director of Sydney Southwest Respiratory and Sleep Centre - Prairiewood
Dr Metti works as Respiratory and Sleep Staff specialist at Campbeltown and St George Public Hospitals and a Visiting Medical Officer at both Fairfield and Bankstown Hospitals.
Dr Metti finished his basic training through Liverpool hospital network, then underwent advanced training in respiratory and sleep medicine at different centers in Sydney including Campbeltown, St George and Westmead hospital. Then, he finished 2 years of postgraduate fellow shop in sleep and pulmonary intervention at Westmead hospital.
His main areas of interests include lung cancer diagnosis, staging and management, pulmonary vascular diseases, and management of complex sleep discorded breathing.
He leads the Pulmonary hypertension Clinic at Campbelltown Hospital and he performs advanced bronchoscopy interventions at Bankstown and St George Hospitals, including flexible bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound with Linear and Radial probe, transbronchial cryo- lung biopsy and central airway intervention including debulking and airways stenting.
Since 2016, Dr Metti has been dedicated to caring for patients with a wide range of respiratory and sleep disorders.
Dr Metti is passionate about delivering compassionate, patient-focused care and helping his patients achieve better breathing, better sleep, and a better quality of life.
Outside working hours , he enjoys his cycling and spending time with his three children
Haneen AL Khthir
Respiratory Consultant Pharmacist and Sleep Division Manager
Haneen Al Khthir is a Respiratory Consultant Pharmacist and Sleep Division Manager at Sydney Southwest Respiratory and Sleep Centre n Prairiewood, NSW. She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Baghdad, Iraq, and a Master of Pharmacy from the University of Technology Sydney.
An MMR-accredited pharmacist and member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA), Haneen is also registered with AHPRA.
With over seven years of experience running a sleep clinic in community pharmacy, Haneen is passionate about sleep health and providing long-term support for patients on CPAP therapy. She believes in patient-centred care, recognizing that every individual's journey is unique.
Outside of work, Haneen enjoys spending time with her family exploring new opportunities for personal growth, and empowering her community through health education.
Maryam Al-Wakeel
Sleep Consultant Pharmacist
Maryam is a Community and Sleep Apnoea Consultant Pharmacist at Sydney Southwest Respiratory and Sleep Centre in Prairiewood, NSW.
She holds a Bachelor of Medical Science from Western Sydney University and a Master of Pharmacy from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). She is also registered with AHPRA.
In community pharmacy, Maryam has a strong interest in medication management and patient safety, with experience supporting medication adherence through the use of Dose Administration Aids (DAAs) and Webster packs.
As a Sleep Apnoea Consultant Pharmacist, she assists patients with the initiation and ongoing management of sleep apnoea therapy, providing education, support, and guidance to help optimize treatment outcomes and long-term adherence.
Outside of work, Maryam enjoys drawing, reading, and spending quality time with her family.
Shivam Patel
Respiratory Scientist
Shivam is a Respiratory Scientist from Liverpool Hospital with over 4 years experience in Lung Function Testing. He has a background with a Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours from University of New South Wales.
He is passionate about airway physiology and in his spare time collects fountain pens.
Maryaman Polus
Practice Manager
Maryaman Polus is an experienced Medical Administrator with over five years of expertise in medical administration and practice management. She worked in multiple community practices and is highly skilled in using platforms such as Best Practice, Medical Director, and Gentu to support the smooth and efficient operation of healthcare services.
Maryaman is passionate about providing exceptional services to patients and ensuring a positive experience at every stage of their care journey. Her strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence make her a valued member of Sydney Southwest Respiratory and Sleep Centre.
Outside of work, Maryaman enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends.
